Unwind fully as you immerse yourself in a Watercolour Workshop at Bryn Tanat Hall.

Whether you are exploring something new or improving on an existing hobby. Our Art Workshops are a great way to meet like-minded people with a passion for Art.

Spend the day with a small group of people, where you will learn and create surrounded by the beautiful gardens and landscapes at Bryn Tanat Hall.

Having always been a holiday destination where guests have left with a sense of fulfilment from their time surrounded by nature and the ambience of Bryn Tanat Hall, we have now collaborated with a number of incredibly talented artists to give you the opportunity to truly enrich your experience.

Local Shropshire based Artist, David Walker, will be there to guide you through the day. He is enthusiastic about the benefits of Drawing and Painting for a healthy mind. His Art Classes and Workshops are designed with the theme of ‘Enjoyment’ throughout. David firmly believes that if you enjoy what you are doing you will also learn and develop your Creative side whilst really experiencing your time Drawing and painting.

Intinery

Arrive from 9am, where you will be greeted by the team at Bryn Tanat along with some refreshments.

David will begin with a relaxed morning settling you into a still life class whilst you view the immediate grounds and get to know your tutor and the group.

Before lunch, you will then be taken on a walk around the gardens and grounds of Bryn Tanat Hall, allowing you to take inspiration for your afternoon of painting with David.

Tea, coffee and cake will be served during the afternoon session, taking you to the end of the day, which will finish at 5pm.

What to bring with you

If art is already your passion please bring along your own tools as we know everyone has their favourite brush or paints they prefer to use.

As a general overview you will need your paints, brushes, palette, water pot and something to paint on.

If you are a beginner we can provide a watercolour kit at an additional charge. Please pre-order this at the time of booking.

Depending on how you like to work, you might require some sort of standing easel, tripod or pochade box to work on. Some people like to work on their laps, especially with watercolour and sketching.

You may also want to bring a foldout stool or chair if you prefer to work sitting down.

The Artist

David has been running his own classes and workshops in and around Shropshire for over ten years. The main theme of them is ‘Enjoyment’. This builds up the individuals’ confidence in what they are learning while having fun.

David will teach you how to create your watercolour piece,  in the form of simple exercises, encourages your own style and understanding using a basic structure as a guideline before applying new skills to a finished painting.
