Peter & Susan Martin are the heart and soul of Bryn Tanat Hall. For Susan, the estate has been part of her life since childhood. She grew up exploring its gardens, learning the rhythm of the seasons, and forming a deep connection to the land, a bond that shaped her passion for hospitality, design, and creating a true sense of home.

In 1989, Susan and Peter returned with their three young children, Johny, James, and Annabel. Determined to breathe new life into the Hall. Together, they led an ambitious restoration, combining Peter’s practical skills with Susan’s creative vision to create a luxurious retreat that honours the Hall’s original character. Their goal: to offer five-star comfort grounded in warmth and family tradition.

With over four decades of experience in event planning and hotel management, Susan’s eye for detail is evident throughout the accommodation. Peter manages day-to-day operations, ensuring every part of the estate runs smoothly from guest arrivals to the grounds and maintenance.

Today, with their children now actively involved, Bryn Tanat Hall remains a true family enterprise shaped by generations, and dedicated to offering an unforgettable experience for every guest.

Johnny and Jo live at Bryn Tanat Hall with their two children, Edward and Anna, making them part of next generation to call the estate home.

Johnny plays an active role in the maintenance and ongoing development of the estate, ensuring the property continues to evolve while staying beautifully maintained. Alongside hands-on work, he also supports the business through administrative and operational development.

Jo is an essential part of the behind-the-scenes team, focusing on finance and administration to help ensure the smooth day-to-day running of the business. Together, Johnny and Jo contribute to the continued growth and success of Bryn Tanat Hall, helping to carry the family legacy forward with care and commitment.

James and Kirsty live on the estate with their three children, Olivia, Sophia, and George. Further deepening the family’s connection to Bryn Tanat Hall and its future.

James brings a wealth of practical experience, drawing on his background in interior finishings. He plays a key role in maintaining and developing the estate’s buildings, helping to ensure the property continues to evolve while staying true to its heritage.

Kirsty joined the family business full-time in 2013 and has been instrumental in its continued growth. After retraining in massage and holistic therapies, what started out as one room for guest treatments has led to the development of a full on-site wellness spa. A much-loved feature for both guests and the local community. Today, she manages the spa and fitness suite while working closely with Susan across the wider operations of the business.
